The original house, built just a decade previously, was designed in a style befitting the local conservation area. The brief for the new works, which includes a 2 storey side extension, a full footprint basement and extensive internal remodelling, was to create a seamless extension with an interior bathed in natural light.
A new stair, with a continuous timber handrail and slender spindles, sweeps from top to bottom at the heart of the revised layout, with a suspended glass ceiling sat directly above, forming an attractive visual feature as well as bringing natural light down through the stairwell.
The interior blends contemporary and classic design for an understated appearance, using subtle tones to maximise the effect of the natural light in a home tailor made for a modern family life.
